LOS ANGELES, Calif. – March 3, 2002 – Ceres, along with the Super Computing Center at the University of California, San Diego has developed a set of bioinformatics tools for predicting the three dimensional structures of plant proteins. These tools enable the rapid and accurate annotation and analysis of protein structures, leading to key insights about gene function and utility.
Ceres uses these analyses combined with a series of other functional genomics technologies to ascribe functional utility to plant genes in a high throughput manner. The results of the project, called "Proteins of Arabidopsis thaliana" or PAT can be viewed at arabidopsis.sdsc.edu
