Our intellectual property position has been enabled by our capability to sequence full-length genes and attribute specific utilities to them. We test multiple versions of the same gene, often from more than one plant species, to maximize the depth and breadth of our intellectual property postion. Our intellectual property approach and portfolio have been validated by industry-leading licensing agreements.
Ceres has exclusive rights to over 30 issued U.S. patents, and has over 300 U.S. and foreign patent applications pending. The applications generally relate to methods of making improved plants, and encompass more than 70,000 full-length, functionally annotated cDNA sequences from several species, as well as hundreds of gene-trait associations and promoters with specialized expression patterns.
